The Friends of the Library book sales are held biannually in May and October. The book sales are held in the Friends of the Library building located at 327 State Street, Alton, IL, 62002. Periodically, extra book sales may be scheduled by the Friends of the Library, as needed. All book sales are publicized on The Hayner Public Library District's website. Flyers containing the date and times of each book sale are also available at all Hayner Library locations several weeks before each sale.
The Friends of the Library also have books available for purchase at the Downtown and Alton Square Libraries. The selection of books available for purchase at both locations is always changing and they are a great value—nothing is over $2.00!
The materials sold at the Friends of the Library book sales come from donations made by the public. The Friends of the Library welcome the donation of books, magazines, records, CDs, DVDs, maps, encyclopedias, children's books, etc. Donations for the book sales are accepted at the Downtown and Alton Square Libraries during normal library hours. Special arrangements for donations may be made by calling the Friends of the Library at 618-462-4396.
All proceeds from the Friends of the Library book sales go directly into the library's collection development fund where they are used to purchase new materials for the library collection.
