The Friends of Hayner Library book sales are held biannually in May and October. The book sales are held in the Friends of Hayner Library building located at 327 State Street, Alton, IL, 62002. Extra book sales may be scheduled by the Friends, as needed. All book sales are publicized on The Hayner Public Library District's website. Flyers containing the date and times of each book sale are also available at all Hayner Library locations several weeks before each sale.
The Friends of Hayner Library also have books available for purchase at Hayner Library at Alton Square Mall. The selection of books available for purchase is always changing and they are a great value—nothing is over $2.00!
The materials sold at the Friends of Hayner Library book sales come from donations made by the public. The Friends of Hayner Library welcomes the donation of books, magazines, records, CDs, DVDs, maps, encyclopedias, children's books, etc. Donations for the book sales are accepted at the Downtown and Alton Square libraries during normal library hours. Special arrangements for donations may be made by calling the Friends of Hayner Library at 618-462-4396 (Monday mornings only).
Due to COVID-19, we are not accepting donations at our LIBRARY FACILITIES at this time. Donations will be accepted at the Friends of Hayner Library building, 327 State Street, on Monday mornings from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Please call before arrival to ensure that the Friends are available to receive donations. All proceeds raised by the Friends of Hayner Library are used to purchase new materials and equipment for the library.
